![]() ![]() On August 21 2017, we will witness what was dubbed The Great American Eclipse. Here’s how to shoot both We are less than a lunation away of probably the most advertised total solar eclipse in history. using the macro facility to take from near the photo of the Black X-Ray radiography. Alex Conu 17 Comments A total solar eclipse has two main phases: a partial and a total one. I took the picture with my 350D with the Sigma 24-70 f/4 EX DG Macro at 70 mm. You have to be very quick and just AVOID EYE EXPOSITION TO THE SUN - EVEN TROGH THE BLACK SHEET) BECAUSE ALL KIND OF DANGEROUS RADIATION (INVISIBLE) CAN DAZZLING AND DAMAGE YOUR EYES. Then coming from this protective barrier I can go up with the camera throgh the black X-Ray and take the photo.īE VERY CAREFULY: THE X-RAY BLACK RADIOGRAPHY IT IS - NOT - NOT - NOT - AND I REPEAT AGAIN NOT A SOLAR FILTER, ![]() I taped to my dinnig room´s window and I also put below some solid flat material that BLOCK ALL LIGHT: This is my protective barrier. The wet one has a small emulsion made with tinny Ag crystals and it´s darker (optical density=3) and more homogenious (so you can look for your old bone radiographies to see if you get one with a lot of black area). I set up over the window a BLACK X-Ray radiography, the wet one (obtained with chemicals), NOT the one coming from a dry Laser printer (actually used for Echography, CT or Magnetic Resonance images). You have to be very, very, very carefuly and avoid DIRECT EXPOSURE OF YOUR EYES TO THE SUN. THIS IS WHAT I DID, BUT I DO NOT TAKE ANY REPONSABILITY FOR OTHERS DO, I AM ONLY RESPONSABLE OF MYSELF AND MY ACTS. I shall try to take some photos to make a series, but I must go the doctor in between, so I am going to miss part of the begining. After some testing, I think this is a suitable image of the sun, 100 % crop of the original, unretouched: As I live in Madrid and tomorrow we are going to have an anular total solar eclipse, after 241 years !!! I was doing some setup in order to try to take some pictures. ![]()
